Next on cards are Web 2.0 offerings. This month, it will launch a gaming portal with multiplayer puzzle, arcade and strategy game and a messenger integrated their into their site, so you can chat with your friends while you play.

Homegrown portals, till now, have seen success only in niche internet-markets like jobs, travel or matrimony.

Rediff, for one, claims to be ready. About three quarters of its revenue growth has come from high-margin Indian online business.

Alexa ranks it 94th in the world and the fifth most popular portal in India.
